Detroit Man Seizes On ATM Error, Goes On Gambling Spree

A retired Detroit man took advantage of a broken ATM machine and went on a $1.5 million gambling spree at the city’s three casinos before he was caught by authorities.

Ronald Page of Detroit is a retired worker for an automotive company who was found guilty in court this week of taking advantage of the faulty ATM machine. Page discovered the error when he found he was able to make unlimited cash withdrawals from the broken machine. He then proceeded to stuff his pockets full of cash and decided to do the logical thing; go on a gambling spree at Detroit’s three casinos.

Although he was riding high on the windfall of cash, Page’s luck was about to run out. He lost $1.5 million at the casinos and then was charged with stealing bank funds; a federal crime. He was found guilty this week and faces 15 months in a federal prison because he knew he did not have that kind of money in his account when he made the withdrawals.
